Doug Herbert, owner and driver of the SnaponFranchise.com dragster, has waited long enough.

After almost three months since last being in his 8,000 horsepower Top Fuel dragster, the time to climb back into the cockpit has finally arrived.

Testing begins in just a few short hours at Firebird International Raceway, just outside Phoenix, and Herbert has never been more optimistic about the preseason test session.

“I can’t begin to explain how pumped we are,” said Herbert. “The team has worked incredibly hard to get everything ready. They built a brand new race car over the winter and now we are ready to race.”

After tying for his career-best points finish in the 2007 NHRA POWERade season, Herbert feels the momentum swinging his way as he looks to 2008.

“Our season ended up being pretty good, but we are hungry for more,” said Herbert. “Our goal for 2008 is to win the championship. We plan on proving ourselves to be major contenders after this weekends test session. We have held the track record at Firebird on a couple of occasions, and I am confident we can do it again.”

This weekend’s preseason test session leads up to the opening event of the 2008 NHRA POWERade season, the historic Winternationals, held at the Los Angeles County Fair Grounds, scheduled to take place February 7 – 10.
